| How would you feel if you called
for emergency medical help late in the night and it never arrived?
How about if it arrived 5 minutes late and your love one passed
away?
How about finding out that the EMT’s
had difficulty
finding your home and told you it took many extra minutes because
homes in the community were not addressed where they could find
them.
These scenarios occur daily all over
the country. Many people die unnecessarily daily because homes
cannot be found quickly and easily.
Emergency personnel do an outstanding
job and have the best equipment in the world. The weak link in
the 911 program is the fact that individual homeowners do not
have their homes addressed whereby they can be found quickly
in an emergency both day and night.
...."Can emergency responders see your house number from
the street? The next time you are returning to your home
at night, pretend that you are a policeman or firefighter
trying to find your house. Can you easily see your house
number from the street? If not you have some work to do.
Mark your house number in large, reflective numbers that can
easily be seen from the street...." Northwest Regional

A testimonial from an Affiliate who is a volunteer
fire-fighter in Mississippi:
"I am honored that you would ask me to share a story
with you. In fact, Jamie and I were talking during the Video
Bootcamp Meetings about how I could help ya'll by telling
story after story of emergency responders. I'd love to help
you guys anyway I could.
Just last week, we were dispatched to a male who had been
stung by a wasp while working in his yard. He was allergic to
bee stings. The address was in the up-scale Panther Creek
subdivision. (Big Houses, Long Driveways, etc.) It took the FD
and Ambulance 24 minutes to locate the address! He was
conscious when the call came in, but was unresponsive by the
time we arrived.
Monday night (after the Video Meeting) we were dispatched
to "fire and sparks" running from a power pole in the woods.
Again it was in Panther Creek. We had to knock on doors,
trying to find the correct location. I guess we could have
waited till the fire set the woods on fire and possibly someone's home to find it!!!
I've been doing this almost 14 years, and I'd say that on
probably 80% of the calls we have trouble finding the address."
